Allen B Repp, II, MD, FACP, ACP Governor
It has been just over a year since my last newsletter…and what a year it has been! While I have been trying to keep in touch through targeted e-mails and our Twitter feed. I have not wanted to add to the overwhelming amount of news, communication, and urgent requests we have all been receiving. However, with spring in the air, vaccine supplies increasing every day, and the promise of a gradual resolution of the pandemic, I thought it was finally time to resume the Governor's Newsletter and share some good news from the VT ACP Chapter.
I hope this finds you healthy and similarly hopeful!
Save the Date: Vermont ACP Chapter Annual Scientific Meeting will occur on October 15, 2021
We are planning to hold the Vermont Chapter's Annual Scientific Meeting on Friday, October 15, 2021. Our current, optimistic plan is to offer an in-person at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT, with an option for virtual, synchronous streaming. There will be virtual poster competition for resident and student members, as well. Stay tuned for more details!
Mark Levine awarded Mastership
Mark A. Levine, MD, was awarded Mastership from the ACP. To quote the ACP description, Masters “must be highly accomplished persons demonstrating eminence in practice, leadership, or in medical research.” Following a career in academic general internal medicine and medical education, Dr. Levine now serves as the Commissioner of Health for the State of Vermont. Among many other initiatives, he has directed the state's public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has earned him the title of “Vermont's own Dr. Fauci”. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Levine.
Jan Carney elected to Board of Regents
Jan K. Carney, MD, MPH, FACP has been elected to the ACP Board of Regents for the 2021-2023 term. She is the immediate past Governor of the Vermont ACP chapter, and, among her many national leadership roles, recently served vice-chair of the ACP's Health and Public Policy Committee. She is currently the Associate Dean for Public Health and Health Policy and Professor of Medicine at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont.

Potential ACP Governor-Elect Candidates - Nominations Due by April 14, 2021
The ACP national office is conducting a Governor-Elect election for our chapter this year. The Local Nominations Committees, chaired by Dr. Jan Carney, will be responsible for identifying up to two candidates who are willing and able to serve a four-year term (April 2023 - April 2027), in addition to a year of training as Governor-elect (April 2022 - April 2023).
We are looking for a dynamic leader who exhibits integrity, shows commitment to the College and demonstrates dedication to the Chapter and the medical community. The successful candidate will work with Chapter members and with leaders in internal medicine at the national level. A Governor typically spends several hours per week on College Business with the support of executive administrative staff. Serving as an ACP Governor can be an extremely rewarding and life changing experience.
