Although the measure is well intentioned, there are significant issues to overcome. The measure is written in a way that can be interpreted that having a longer duration than 10 years between colonoscopies is appropriate, which conflicts with current evidence. There are feasibility concerns related to coding and extracting the recommendation information from the patient’s medical record, which is often buried in notes. In order to implement the measure in a less burdensome way, sophisticated report writing software may be needed to extract the information.
